Brandon Lancaster: Do something stupid.
Tripp Howell: Yeah, and and threw that line out there and Brandon immediately started twisting it ‘because I drank it with you.’ And I was like, Oh, that’s an interesting twist on- even writing the song I remember thinking about the instance of drinking my first beer. I think we both tried to put little pieces in that song.
Brandon Lancaster: I’ve said that joke a million times. Like, I remember my first beer if someone drops something or something stupid. But for some reason, when you said it, we started talking about our first beers, actually the first time. And it’s realizing how impactful at the moment that is and how many things in life that you think you’ll remember forever, you won’t. But for some reason, that first beer that does stand out and who you were drinking it with. And then the idea of like, really, it’s not even about the beer. It’s about that memory. It’s about that person. So it’s a cool way to go about singing a beer song.
NASHVILLE, TN – Multi-Platinum country band and Arista Nashville hit-makers LANCO released their new track “First Beer” today. The song was written by frontman Brandon Lancaster, drummer Tripp Howell, and The Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston. Listen HERE.
“There are some memories in life where you don’t remember every detail, but one vivid experience that stuck with all of us was our first drink and the people we were with,” Lancaster said. “It’s a universal song that’s going to be fun to get back on the road and play for our fans. They might not remember the beer, but they will take away an experience, which is the entire sentiment of the song.”
“I love that this song turns into a conversation piece after listening, and it gives people the chance to reminisce on their own story,” Howell added. “That’s how this song started to quickly come together….when we are on the road and someone spills a drink the running tag line is ‘I remember my first beer’… and we just went off our own memories and the song started to write itself.”
The new track follows LANCO’s “Near Mrs.” which had its television premiere on CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last month. Watch the performance HERE.
