RYAN HURD: ON HIS RECENT HAIRCUT AND MAREN MORRIS WEIGHS IN (AUDIO)
With the recent release of new song “Chasing After You” with Maren Morris, Ryan Hurd explains the motivation for his clean cut and Morris weighs in.
Hurd: I love growing my hair out. I’ve done it like 4 or 5 times ever since college it’s kind of been my look, but every once in a while it’s just time to get rid of it. And I knew that like at the end of last year, I was getting kind of like burnt out on covid and just like, I think everybody kind of was and still is, but I just called our manager and the label and was like “I’m cutting my hair off. It’s time for it to go. I want like to go dark on socials and I want to just come back with this song and a new look and just like put my stamp on like this year.” And part of that was just like taking new pictures so you know I can get like really deep into like –
Morris: No, keep it superficial.
Hurd: Yeah, I just think I look like a more serious artist with shorter hair too, so
Morris: Oh my god. What?
Hurd: I don’t know. It was just time. There’s no real reason.
Morris: I mean I love him with short hair because he had short hair on our wedding day so I always – you know, when he came home a couple weeks ago and he had cut all of his hair off, I was like “Aww this reminds me of our wedding day”. But, I think he looks good with both but I totally get you’re in quarantine for a year. People are getting pregnant. People are adopting dogs. People are breaking up. People are cutting their hair off like it is what it is.
Hurd: I have grown my hair out and cut it off in the amount of times that we’ve been stuck at home.
Morris: Yeah, same.
