VARIOUS ARTISTS: Lessons learned from 2020 and what some of our Sony Artists are looking forward to most in 2021 (Audio)

With 2020 drawing to an end, here are some thoughts from some of our Sony Artists on what lessons were learned from a year like 2020 and what to look forward to in 2021. We wish you all a safe and happy New Year!

Kane Brown: 2020 Lesson Learned
I’d say in 2020 I’ve learned that anything can happen out of nowhere. Like, we were on tour for 2 weeks and then Covid hit and we haven’t toured in over a year. So, I’ll never say that I’m ready to take a break ever again. I’ve missed it, I can’t wait to get back out there and, Most looking forward to in 2021… Hopefully getting to tour, take my family out and to get Kingsley out on the road. She’s been a quarantine baby. So, I want her to get out and to see the world a little bit, meet to new people, yeah, just be out of the house.

Mitchell Tenpenny: 2020 Lesson Learned
Yeah, I mean I definitely learned a lot more about myself and my relationship at home… how to be more patient, how to live with someone. I really never know that because we were always on the road and me and Meghan have never been- had that much time together. So, we both learned patience and how to actually live with somebody. It’s been a long time. I’ve never actually lived with anybody of the opposite sex like that, so it was really learning each other, its made us so much closer. And, I think it takes that vulnerability to kind of accept each others differences. And yeah, I probably never would have figured that out for a long time if it wouldn’t have been for 2020.

Matt Stell: 2020 Lesson Learned
I’d say the biggest thing I’ve learned from 2020 is just not to take anything for granted, you know. We had our world sort of upended out of the blue, and it really makes you appreciate the things that can sometimes become things that you take for granted. So I know when 2021 comes, we’re going to be looking forward to getting back to normal, and really looking forward to living every moment, living every night, living every show to the fullest. Because that’s really the thing that I’ve missed the most has been getting out and being able to play live music with the band and crew and for people. So as soon as we’re able to do that, I know we’re really going to relish every moment because definitely 2020 has taught us not to take anything for granted.

Old Dominion: 2020 Lesson Learned
Matthew Ramsey: 2020 has taught me to slow down and the importance of doing that. We were kinda going, you know, a million miles a minute there for a while. And it was exhausting… and I don’t think that I realized how exhausted I was until we stopped. So, I think it’s important to slow down and take a look at what you’ve achieved and what you want to achieve.
