OLD DOMINION: Secures Nomination for Album of the Year at 2020 CMA Awards (Audio)

Old Dominion’s Trevor Rosen on CMA Nominations:
I’d say since we became a band, since we started making albums, we always tried full albums. You know, it wasn’t just trying to write hit songs, we tried to make an album that was cohesive and also an album where there wasn’t a skip-able song on it. We took pride in that, so to finally be in that category, I feel like, is rewarding. It’s sort of the culmination of all the work that we’ve put into this for the last 10 years.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Acclaimed reigning two-time CMA Vocal Group of the Year and two-time ACM Group of the Year Old Dominion secures 2020 CMA Award nomination for Album Of The Year for their self-titled third studio album, which was released in fall 2019. The album was produced by Old Dominion and longtime collaborator Shane McAnally. In addition to Album of The Year, the band received their fifth CMA Vocal Group of the Year nomination, which they have won the past two years.

Of the nominations, lead-singer Matthew Ramsey says, “Getting two CMA nominations this morning was a much-needed pick me up in the middle of all the stress of 2020.  We put our whole hearts into our last album, so when the Album of the Year nod came through, I got chills. We are truly grateful.”

About Old Dominion:  Old Dominion has emerged as one of the hottest breaking bands out of Nashville, fusing clever lyrics and an infectious sound. Their lyrical wit and hook heavy songwriting has certainly proved a winning method: since breaking onto the music scene in 2014, the band has notched eight No. 1 singles at country radio, surpassed one billion on-demand streams, earned several Platinum and Gold single certifications and headline arenas and amphitheaters around the globe. Old Dominion earned five nominations for the upcoming 2020 ACM Awards, including their fifth nod for Group of the Year. Nominations for the band include Single of the Year for their hit “One Man Band,” as both the artist and as producers alongside longtime collaborator Shane McAnally, Song of the Year, where Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen and Brad Tursi each received individual nominations as songwriters in addition and Video of the Year. Collectively, the band lead nominations for the upcoming show, with eight total.

The reigning CMA and ACM Group of the Year have also been notably named ACM New Group of the Year, ACCA Breakthrough Group of the Year, AIMP Songwriter Artist of the Year and MusicRow Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and in 2017, front man Matthew Ramsey was ASCAP’s Artist of the Year. The band has also received nominations for CMT Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Awards, and iHeart Radio Awards. Old Dominion consists of lead singer Matthew Ramsey, lead guitarist Brad Tursi, multi-instrumentalist Trevor Rosen, bassist Geoff Sprung and drummer Whit Sellers. Their melodic, stunning, self-titled third LP was released on October 25, 2019.
