Every Other Memory (acoustic)
The first track on this EP is the acoustic version of my new single, “Every Other Memory.” It’s very fun right now I think to be an artist in any genre because when you do put a lot of effort behind a song, you get to do a couple versions of it. So this one’s really fun just because it’s obviously that piano-driven ,ballad-y sort of acoustic thing I’ve been doing with like, “To A T,” but it adds some really cool production behind it. My guitar player Teddy and my producer Aaron made this track, and I just think it’s a really cool take on something that’s super nostalgic, and it sort of lets the lyrics sink into the track, and honestly it makes it shine even more. So I love this song, I love this version, and I’m really proud to put it on this EP.

Heartless (acoustic)
So I wrote the song “Heartless” with a guy named Ernest who’s a huge, huge talent in Nashville, and Charlie Handsome and Morgan and Diplo and King Henry- It’s just a really massive song, it’s the biggest song I’ve ever been a part of. When we were putting this together, this whole EP is like B-sides of stuff I’ve done as a writer and as an artist, so man just being able to put my own little acoustic-y spin on it was really fun. The coolest part of that song is that it’s still growing, and I love just getting to put my own voice on it and support Morgan and Diplo and all those dudes who are really making a good go of it, so proud to be a part of this one and proud of my version. You can check it out on EOM EP, this is Ryan Hurd.

False God (cover)
Track 3 on this project is a song called “False God” by Taylor Swift, and it’s just my cover. I don’t think we would’ve gotten the opportunity to do something fun like this if we were super busy traveling and doing radio tour like we’re usually kind of eaten up with this time of year. She’s such an amazing songwriter. We released this song as a single but thought it was such a perfect thing to put on this collection of music too. I have just the most amount of respect for her and her music and her writing, and I’m really proud to have this song as a part of this collection of tunes.

Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset
“Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” is a song I wrote for Luke Bryan that went #1 and this is pretty much the demo of it, just with some new drums added on top of it and a clean mix. I’m really excited about this because I played this song so much in my live set that now fans have an actual recording of me singing it that they can listen to. I don’t know, I’m really blessed to be a songwriter in Nashville, TN and getting to do this project which is basically just my voice on songs that other people made famous is really cool because it’s stuff that people already know, but they can get that other flavor, sort of the flavor that we had in the room, the thing that was so inspirational. This is one of those tracks that just, I don’t know, maybe I could’ve kept it for myself and it could’ve been a hit, but I’m really proud of the fact that Luke made it one. This is just a really special project and I’m really thankful that I get to put these songs out.

Payback
It was really fun to put “Payback” on this EP. It’s a song that kind of put me on the map as a writer here on Music Row. It went to radio with Rascal Flatts, but in town it was sort of the song and the demo that got me a lot of attention as a writer and got people sort of asking to either write with me or cut my music. I always talked to Jaren and to Neil and Kelby (Cadillac Three) about what we were going to do someday with this tune, and Jaren wanted to cut it before Flatts kind of put their stamp on it. So it was just such a natural thing and it’s such a rock and roll song, and I think it’s really cool when you see like our take on it. It’s just a bar song and it’s like that aggressive take on country music that I think is really fun. Obviously, those guys are just a rock band and it’s such an honor just to collaborate with your friends anytime you get an opportunity to. So “Payback” is just a fun one, it’s one of those that might not sonically go with the rest of my music but I think in this project it fits perfectly.

What If I Never Get Over You
“What If I Never Get Over You” is the last song I wrote for somebody else that went #1. Basically with this track, we just took the demo and Sam Ellis, who was one of my co-writers, kind of just upgraded it and added some new drums and cleaned up the guitars. But I mean that voice, that vocal is the one that we used in the demo and that’s the one that went to Charles and Hillary and Dave (Lady A). So getting the opportunity to just have this version come out is really special, and I hope that people kind of hear what we did in the room that day when they listen to this track.

Wish For The World (live)
“Wish For The World” is a song I’ve obviously put my own version of out. We already have a recording of it, but I wanted to give my fans that flavor of what we do live, because this is the song that we’ve closed our set out with for I guess the last two tours. I’ve tried to do other things to end our show, but it just doesn’t work. It just feels like this is the period at the end of the night, and so I wanted this to be the period at the end of this collection of music. I think that it’s a really important song for my fans and I think for anybody who loves country music right now, and getting the live version of it is just I think something that will remind people what it means to go see live music, and I think it will remind people of my show that have been before, and hopefully it’ll make people excited to come back. I know that I’m ready to play more shows and play more music, but this is a really cool- like just that song, in Nashville, having my managers there, my family there, and Maren there side stage, that was the only show she could come to on that tour because she was very pregnant. So having this recording is really special and getting to release it is also just such a moment for us, all of us.
