Ryan Hurd: Update on Parenting and commentary on his latest release, “Every Other Memory” (Audio)
Ryan Hurd offers up an update on how parenting is going so far with his wife, Maren Morris and their recent newborn.

So, we just had our first baby and uh, it’s been really cool to um, adjust to that. It feels, it feels really, it’s really kind of hard to describe. I mean, we, it’s a lot of work and we are figuring it out. But I don’t know, I feel like every night when you put that kid to sleep it just feels like you’ve accomplished something that you’ve never accomplished before in your entire life. I mean, it’s our first time doing this so um, we are 100% figuring it out. But, I am just really am proud of our little family and excited about uh, raising our son in Nashville and uh, getting to do country music. The 3 of us.
I feel like my new song has just borrowed so much from my own life. Where I have had like these amazing nights, like on our lake in Michigan, and you know, I’ve gotten to do so many shows, and so many musical experiences and you know, I’ve seen Springsteen live and uh seen Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson. I’ve gotten to play in arenas, I’ve gotten to play in amphitheaters, and do my own like headline club tour. And um, at the end of the day I think the coolest part, you know, of doing music is just like, man, I just take my life and I write a couple lines about it. And then turn that into a song, like I get to see other people take that and really internalize it and make it a part of their life. And um, so each one of those little memories has contributed to these songs. And um, that’s the same way that I feel about this new one. Um, I’m really proud of it and I’m excited about getting an opportunity to just to continue to make country music in Nashville, Tennessee. And making the kind of country music that like is true to who I am as an artist and really pushing my own boundaries, my own, like finding my own lane.. and so, uh, yeah, this song is I think the next step in that direction.
