Luke Combs appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform a very emotional version of his song “Used To You” from his EP This One’s For You (which is also the title of his full-length album), as a tribute to the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting. Luke shared the news of his appearance on his social media…”Tonight, the band and I were scheduled to tape a performance at Jimmy Kimmel Live! to air on TV later this fall. While we were on set today, Jimmy asked if I would be willing to perform a song tonight to honor last night’s fallen; I immediately agreed and we will be playing “Used to You.” Music is a healer. In this overwhelming darkness, I believe we will find hope when we rise together. Evil will not win. Fans, it is the blessing of my life to get to make music with you and for you every day. Tonight, may we find light and hope in the chaos.”

Much like he saw last night in the audience there to see it live, and surely with those at home watching on TV, and people checking it out after the fact with Youtube, Luke knows the power of “Used To You” and the reactions it can generate. Luke shares “So many people have reached out to me at shows or come up to me after a concert and said, hey man that song helped me through my dad passing away or my grandfather or whoever it may be, and those moments are so powerful and when we play that song live, there’s always somebody in the crowd you  can see who has some sort of emotional reaction to it, and I’m just thankful that we wrote it because it’s helped so many people through so many things… that’s kind of always been the goal for me of songwriting is helping people who don’t write songs or aren’t musical have some kind of escape or some kind of way of fitting or getting out that frustration and helping them cope with something.”
