TYLER FARR: Writing Simple Songs

Tyler Farr is a songwriter who written tons of songs, including his number-one hit “Whiskey In My Water,” but Tyler admits that sometimes as a singer, it’s a little easier if you didn’t write what you’re singing. Tyler says “When you’re not the writer on the song, it is a little easier to just drop yourself in the song and not over think it. I’m guilty of it, as well as about every other artist, when you write a song, you’re thinking way too hard.” Tyler did not write his latest song, “I Should Go To Church Sometime”–but he thinks it’ll connect with fans, because it’s a simple song. Tyler shares that writing a simple song is a lot harder than you’d think, “you’re just over thinking, and that’s the hardest part about songwriting, is writing simple.  And simple is what people want to hear. People get simple. Joe driving a backhoe down a two lane road in any state in the country, he’s going to get simple. He’s not going to get something he doesn’t understand, but he can understand ‘I Should Go To Church Sometime,’ whether he goes to church or not,  and that’s what the song is about…to me, that’s simple.” Tyler Farr is out singing his songs with Brantley Gilbert and Luke Combs on The Devil Don’t Sleep tour–to check out the schedule of dates, head on over to Tyler Farr dot com, or just click HERE
