CHRIS YOUNG: Always Christmas On His Phone

Sure, you probably have a lot of songs on your phone…you even probably have a Chris Young hit or two…maybe the trio of recent number-ones he put out. (“I’m Comin’ Over,” “Think Of You,” “Sober Saturday Night.”) And you’d be glad to play those when friends are around, but you also have THOSE songs too…songs that are guilty pleasures that you save for yourself, and you don’t want anyone to know you have. Well, Chris is proud of all of his music that he keeps on his phone, but if he had to admit to one that he’d hate for people to know he has…it’d be his niece’s fault. Being a good Uncle, he has her favorite holiday tune “I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas” ready to play for her when she requests it. Chris says it’s the originally version by Gayle Peevey, which came out in 1953, and it will probably live on his phone until next Christmas season, because who really gets rid of music on their phone.

“The song on my phone that I would hate to admit is on my phone. The first thing that actually pops in my head is actually because of my niece. So, and I do have ‘I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas’ on my phone, like the original version.  I don’t know if that’s one you’re supposed to be embarrassed of because I have an excuse. Plus, it’s just a fun song.  That’s probably the most random one, at least that’s recent on my phone. You could probably go way back and find some old pop songs on there that you would kinda just chuckle at. But that one is one of her favorites.”
